Peridot
One of the world's oldest known stones having been traced back to Egyptian jewellery before the birth of Christ, Peridot is a member of the Olivine mineral family. Attributed with many healing powers, including help in easing Asthma and dispelling nightmares, this beautiful green gemstone is said to have been a favourite of Cleopatra. Also known as Chrysolite, Peridot is the birthstone for the month of August. Historically mined in the Red Sea on the island of St. John, formerly known as Zeberjed, current production comes from Pakistan, Myanmar and China.
